Carla Schucani was born in Perugia in 1932. She accomplished humanistic studies in Switzerland and Italy. At the age of 19 she had her first personal exhibition in Rome. She went on painting without teachers or schools. Her instinctive way of painting was immediately noticed by the reviewers. Valerio Mariani was interested in the young artist's works from the beginning and, in 1955 Enrico Crispolti wrote a long analitic review about her production from the beginnig for Radio Monteceneri. Mean of personal exhibitions and not very inclined to collective ones, she carried on her artistic activities attempting with success to create ideas for jewels and later for Egidio Costantini's sculptures. In 1984 she created new decorations for Deruta's majolicas.
Even if she expresses herself mainly with oil-colors on canvas, she loves drawing (she illustrated Fedro's fables) and using water-colors on paper very much.
